About Gantries

We guarantee we will find a gantry solution to fit your site dimensions. If our standard modular gantry sizes do not fit your needs, we will fabricate 10kPa gantries to suit.

Our gantry sizes are 2.500 wide and come in lengths of 2.500, 4.000, 5.000 and 7.500.

We also supply 10kPa cantilever gantries in widths of 1.200 and 1.600, both 2.500 long.

Our gantries can be connected end-on-end and side-to-side, as needed to suit your site configurations.

We’ll do the hard part of working out which gantries are needed. Just give us the dimensions you need covered and we’ll design a gantry plan to suit.

Yes, all of our gantries and cantilever gantries are rated to a minimum of 10kPa. These have been independently tested by third-party engineers so you can be assured they exceed the minimum requirements for compliance.

Not all gantries are created equally. While they may look similar, gantries differ a lot between companies. Our heavy-duty gantry has been independently tested to far exceed the legal requirements of 10kPa. You can be assured that not only will your site be compliant, it will be safe (yep, there’s a difference). Our products have all been fabricated within the last 5 years, and undergo a thorough Quality Assurance process prior to arriving on your site.

Our gantry is designed to be efficiently installed, adaptable to suit all site configurations and has a high-profile appearance to represent the value of your brand.

As a family-run business, we pride ourselves on having the best 24/7 customer service, so we guarantee we’ll get your gantry sorted, quickly.

Our gantries are a proprietary design, so we can’t give away our secret herbs and spices! However, we can divulge that we fabricate our gantries in-house with only locally-supplied steel that adheres to all relevant Australian Standards. We do share some more details of the Guardian Gantry System if you’d like to learn more (but still no secret herbs or spices!).

Pricing and Quotes

There are five components to a gantry quotation;

  1. How many lineal meters of gantry are required,
  2. Installation cost,
  3. Hire cost per week,
  4. Dismantle cost, and
  5. Optional extras (eg. ply hoarding, stairs, gates, mesh screens).

Therefore, the price of your gantry will depend on how much area you need covered with gantry, site access, hours of operation (eg. overtime and weekend work), and the length of your hire.

The more, the better! So that we can ensure that your quote is as accurate as possible, we need to know:

  • How many weeks you’d like the gantry onsite for,
  • The approximate dimensions you need covered with 10kPa gantry – it’s best to send us a marked up plan,
  • What days/hours are available for installation and dismantle,
  • Any access issued you foresee (eg. heritage listed trees adjacent, gantry needed to be placed under an awning, bus stop along the footpath)
  • The purpose of the gantry, for storage, site sheds, or scaffold

Not sure on any of the above? No problem, our online gantry quote request form will prompt you for the information, step by step.

Quite simply, we guarantee we’ll get your gantry sorted. Your site will not only be compliant, but your site will be safer, more efficient, more adaptable and will represent the high value of your brand.

You can be assured that we have dedicated project management support available 24/7 so you can be assured we’ll get your gantry sorted.

Still not sure we’re for you? Check out our previous experience on high-profile construction projects across Brisbane or learn more about how we’re different.

We do not sell our gantries, as they are a proprietary design.

You’ll likely find that it’s much more cost effective to hire a gantry due to the cost of raw materials and labour to produce a product that meets the legislative requirements.

Let’s have a chat if you’re interested in licensing use of our gantry design in an exclusive geographical territory.

Compliance and Regulations

Gantries save lives. Yep, simple as that. Gantries are designed to catch falling objects on or around demolition and construction sites. With falling objects being in the top 4 causes of death and serious injury on worksites in Aus, it’s good to get this sorted to make your site safer.

Most commonly, gantries provide overhead protection along a footpath to stop these falling objects so that the public or construction workers can move freely.

Often, gantries are used to increase the available space on a site. This can be done by creating a storage area above the gantry, or by placing site amenities above a gantry.

If you’re unsure, you’re welcome to contact us as we’ll give you an honest answer if you even need gantry.

If you’d like to work out yourself if you need a gantry, you should refer to the Work Health and Safety Act (2011), specifically Division 3 – Duties Relating to Falling Objects.

If you’re working on demolition or construction projects where an object could fall or otherwise hit a person during the work you need to conduct a risk assessment and apply appropriate controls. One of these controls could be a 10kPa-rated gantry overhead platform. Give us a call if you’d like to know more.

Navigating compliance can be tricky – but we’ll get it sorted for you. Section 315K of the Work Health and Safety Act (2011) Qld specifies the requirements when using gantry as a control measure. We guarantee that our gantry is fully compliant with all aspects of the Act, including;

  • Being engineered to withstand a downward force of at least 10kPa,
  • Have handrails for live edge protection, at least .900 high,
  • Be set at a minimum of 2.200 high, or 4.800 high for high vehicle bays
  • Be waterproof and dustproof

After installation we will request a third-party engineer attend your site and inspect the gantry. Upon doing so, they will certify that the gantry is compliant to the Work Health and Safety Act.

Gantry for your site

Yes, we have many sites across South-East Qld with double-stacked site sheds placed on top. This is a popular option if you are looking to increase the space available for site amenities during construction. We will coordinate with your site shed supplier to ensure the site amenities are correctly situated on top of the gantry. If you already know the dimensions of your site amenities, this will assist us to design your gantry to suit.

Learn more about placing site sheds on a gantry here.

Sure, no problem. We offer this as an additional option if you need to fully secure your site from the public. We supply 17mm structural ply, which is rated to a minimum of 5kPa, ensuring you are compliant with the Work Health and Safety Act. To be compliant, the ply hoarding must be erected up to the height of the gantry.

Our gantry legs are square so we can quickly and easily attach ply hoarding. If you need, our qualified chippie can create Personnel Access doors within the hoarding as you need. The ply hoarding will be painted to suit your brand colours, ensuring your site makes a great first impression.

Simply tell us which sides of your gantry you would like ply hoarding attached to, and we can include this option in your gantry quote.

See some examples of our A Class ply hoarding on sites across South East Queensland.

Our gantries are rated to achieve a 7.500 span without additional bracing required. Our gantry can span much further distances, but will require additional bracing, per our third-party engineers requirements.

Yes we can supply staircases to access the gantry. These are fabricated in-house to meet AS1657. You’ll just need to tell us how high you’d like the gantry to be set, and we’ll fabricate them to suit. They’ll be freshly painted and installed at the same time as your gantry. These are much more sturdy than scaffold stairs and will be firmly connected to the gantry platform.

To ensure we are available for you’re the dates you’d like in your program, it’s best to contact us early.

Ideally you’d give us 2 weeks notice so that we can undertake site visits, design your gantry layout, organise the required safety paperwork, freshly paint your gantries and coordinate transport and engineering. This is all part of our process to ensure you get the safest gantries.

It’s never too early to contact us, as we may be able to find some ways to make your build more efficient using gantry. Read how we saved a client the cost of a tower crane during their build.

Our gantry system was designed with efficiency in mind. We know if it goes up and comes down quickly, your site will be more efficient, have less downtime, and reduce your associated costs such as traffic control.

The time to install and dismantle the gantry varies for each job, depending on install method (crane, forklift, on wheels), location (footpath vs inside a site), gantry design and access.

Generally, installing a straight run of gantry down a footpath with clear access will be the most efficient install. Dismantling the gantry is a much quicker process, as we do not need to level the gantry. We will give you an accurate timeframe during our gantry quote process.

How are we quicker? Trust us, it’s not by cutting corners. Instead, we focus on design and training. Our gantry system was designed with additional features so that we can unload and erect gantries more quickly. We also provide rigorous training and internal testing of our employees to ensure they perform efficiently while on your site.

While each job is different, we stand by our claim that Guardian Gantry has the quickest installation time in all of Australia. Learn more about how we efficiently install gantry.

No matter what kind of access you’ve got on your site, we have a way to install gantry. Depending on your site access, we have 4 options for gantry installation;

  1. Franna Crane – we can use a 25t Franna to lift the gantry with precision,
  2. Tower Crane – where required, we can use a tower crane, although this does significantly slow down the installation process,
  3. Forklift – We can bring our forklift to your site to install a forklift where precision is needed, for example when installing under awnings or around obstacles such as signage,
  4. Wheels – yes you read that right! If the gantry is needed in a location where a forklift can’t access (eg. inside a shopping centre, or over a suspended slab), we can attach wheels under the gantry legs to move the gantries into place.
